Athletic-wear designer · founder of Vale Form + Pacific Form
I design leggings and athletic wear for women, then test every seam in the Santa Monica gym I built. Vale Form is made for real bodies in motion; Pacific Form is where the prototypes earn their place.
This is the third paper pattern today. I keep moving the curve by millimeters because a waistband should feel secure without asking a woman to think about it once.
Tuesday's strength class is also product testing. If a pocket shifts during kettlebell work or a waistband rolls when we hinge, the sample goes straight back upstairs.
Deep enough for a phone, flat enough to disappear, and placed where it will not tug on the stride. Useful can still be beautiful.
The beach path tells me more than a mirror ever will. Salt, wind, sweat, repetition—the clothes have to stay out of the way of all of it.
Our fittings are conversations. I want to know where she adjusts, where she hesitates, and what makes her stand a little taller when she sees herself.
The gym is finally quiet, my mat is rolled, and tomorrow's sample is already waiting on the cutting table. This is usually when the best ideas arrive.

The bodies are extraordinary. I am mostly watching how fabric behaves when nobody has energy left to pose.
Open on Netflix ↗We changed the back rise by six millimeters and suddenly three different women stopped reaching for the waistband after a squat. Tiny decisions can give attention back to the person wearing them.
Opened the doors before seven and the marine layer was still sitting over Main Street. Twelve women arrived half-awake and left carrying themselves differently.
Scrapped a beautiful prototype because it only looked beautiful standing still. Clothes for women in motion have to respect the motion first.
My test lab, thinking route, and quickest way back to myself.

We fit on women with different proportions, histories, and ways of moving.
Feeling desirable should never require dressing like your body is decorative.
Strong, technical, and honest. There is nowhere for a bad waistband to hide.
Training can ask a lot of you without making you smaller.
Ten quiet minutes before I become a designer again.
